Last year I spent close to 16 hours on the music set for our wedding. Most was to be played during the dinner but I had three specific songs for the ceremony.Seating of guests: Miles Davis, Love Songs albumWedding intro and bridesmaid/groomsmen walk: Your Hand In Mine(w/Strings) Explosions in the SkyBride walk: Would you Lay With Me, Johnny CashRight after final kiss and exit of wedding party: Get Better, Mates of State. We then played the Throne Room/End Theme melody by John Williams from Star Wars V as our background music to the wedding party introductions. We didn't tell anyone we were doing that so as the music started playing people were cracking up. It was also perfectly timed by the DJ so he made it even more awesomely hilarious and fun. Good Times were had by all. We also had a creepy uncle there who was drunkenly hitting on all the ladys at the wedding which I think every good wedding needs. This was our wedding cakeEdit: I forgot about playing Flaming Lips, Race for the Prize during the removing of the garter part and Lenny Kravitz It A'int Over 'Till It's Over for the cake cutting ceremony.

Congratulations.Ours was all Krautrock: Can, Faust, Ash Ra Tempel, Guru Guru, Harmonia, Popol Vuh, AR & Machines, Amon Duul (I and II), Kraftwerk, etc. Every guest received a mix CD. People still tell me four years later that they love the mix and still listen.

Trey wrote:My wife and I danced to The Dirty Three and Tom Waits' first album. It was ten years last October. We played both too. I have a feeling a couple folks were actively WTF about The Dirty Three in particular, but man, I think they are perfect.

we didn't have a traditional ceremony, so no walk-in/walk-out music for us. we did spend a good couple weekends programming the music for our wedding reception - four+ hours of some (certainly not all) of the songs that played a supporting role in our long-ass (at that point, 13 years, now 14.5+) relationship.highlights included:herb alpert: 'this guy's in love with you'radiohead: 'no surprises'les thugs: 'moon over marin'halen: 'dance the night away'didjits: 'long lone ranger'mudhoney: 'touch me i'm sick'sylvie vartan: 'ne t'en va pas'ramones: 'today your love, tomorrow the world'closed the evening with joey ramone's version of 'what a wonderful world' going into santo and jonny's 'sleepwalk.' totally awesome.full mix can be downloaded here, if you're into that sort of thing...

I would walk down the aisle (hopefully not by myself) to Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler's "Just One Time," and the first dance would be Nat King Cole's "If You Said No."

We walked down the aisle to the main theme from George Delerue's score for Jules and Jim. We didn't have any formal dancing, but had a couple of playlists on the Ipod that we put on shuffle for various times during the reception. Then we had a second reception at my house and our friend Eric played DJ off of our vinyl. Then I made my friend Ray listen to my then newly acquired vinyl copy of Silkworm's Libertine.

I think I would have to say that the best walk-down-the-aisle-as-the-newly-married-couple song I've ever seen was when my friend Matt got married in September. He and his wife walked down to "Ceremony" by New Order. Shit gave me chills and I don't usually get super sappy at weddings. He also did this thing where he picked out theme songs for all of us in the wedding party, which they played clips of when they announced us at the reception. I thought that was a cool idea. I was lobbying for "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth but he picked "Green to Me" by Hum, which was a fine choice as he knows that Hum is one of my favorite bands of all time. When we did the thing where the wedding party was announced, we picked "Greet Death" by Explosions in the Sky. Just because it sounded relatively badass.
