Odelay is such an amazing record that I cant call him crap. His new stuff may be recorded very well but its very boring.

the country record beck did was pretty good. his original version of Rowboat is cool. Johnny Cash covered it.

I got nothing re: Beck's music, but I think his wigga-tino posturing is CRAP.

Exhibit A: "Odelay." This is a play on the colloquial Spanish greeting "Horale."

Exhibit B: Guero. This is a colloquialism for a white guy (really any light-skinned guy- does not have to be a European).

This record includes that "Que Onda Guero?" song, which I heard once on an airplane. Cringeworthy.

Let me guess- he goes to Tito's and orders his food in Spanish too.

I have a recording of Beck playing a very beautiful cover of Big Star's "Kangaroo." It is NOT CRAP.

But Beck is easily CRAP.

beck is alright. i really only like his pre-"Mellow Gold" output. All of that stuff was in heavy rotation during those last few months of eighth grade, so i'll credit my enjoyment of it to nostalgia. I even have a cassette copy of "Golden Feelings."

i can't get into anything from "Odelay" on. because of this, i'll vote CRAP.

Am I the only one on here that likes Mellow Gold?

Maybe so, but man, I really like Mellow Gold.


And "Fume" was a great song too. Its nostalgia to me as well, but I really, really like it. Ok, I've said enough.
