Though I should vote CRAP because they've continued to worsen over the years, I shall not for one reason. The fact that they had the audacity to release 'Her Satanic Majesty's Request'. I love the record for "Citadel" and the fact that it almost seems so bad that it's good. Kinda like the 'Porkies' movies.

From '66-'72, they had a consistent run of great albums, which almost vaporizes their shit later work.
Everyone I know, when you say "The Rolling Stones," we only think of "Aftermath" through "Exile." We're not thinking of "Start Me Up," here.
I mean, do you know anyone that owns "Emotional Rescue?"

Up to Exile (plus Some Girls)-not crap. Great hooks, nice bluesy guitar work, solid band. After Exile (minus Some Girls)-complete crap.

I'm with you on that one - my friend Stevie had that particular 12" when we were in high school (and even back then we were generally made to feel like goofballs for even having turntables in our dorm rooms...) However, that was in fact the first piece of vinyl to actually make me personally think "OK, goddamn CDs do NOT sound better than this record!" I am proud to say that I now also have one of these in my collection...

for a band that is based mostly around adapting black music, i think their "soul" factor is actually pretty low. especially when compared to creedence clearwater revival or led zeppelin who have made similar derivations.
but i give them a "not crap" vote for good songwriting and tasteful guitar.
