The Brew and View must show the "Year and a half in the Life of Metallica" and the "some kind of stanger" movie together.
I would imagine a bunch showing up for that.
I'd pay $40 for that, or whatever the going price for one of their shows.

33I agree....
COMEDY OF THE YEAR.
As i was watching this thing i kept wondering to myself if they would ever consider this option:
Why don't they just give it up? isn't it obvious that they have absolutely zero juice left?
Then, as i continued to watch I realized that Metallica is a business NOT A BAND anymore. Especially when they told Trujillo that they wanted him, "we are ofering you meeelion dollars to join Metallica."
Lars......fucking A, what a drama queen.
Hetfield seemed more than over it, but what's he gonna do after the band? work at Guitar Center?
Newsted, had to be soo stoked to be outta there.
Jason, dude, What's up with that new band ?.....umm that's shit is awful.
I'm sorry.
I need to grow up, but it's just to easy to clown on these guys!

such a touching scene
"in one minute, he can tell me my album is crap. and he'll be right."
next scene: lars' dad is listening to the new music. "son, this is crap!"
i love you dad!
the way james slams the door after an argument and then the next scene he is in rehab. something tells me there was a part missing there. i would love to know what happened and to whom, but i'm afraid i actually don't.
kirk needs to buy a ranch to forget that he's in metallica. weak AND wrong. all at once.

oh yeah, worst movie of all time.
In the companion book to the movie, "This Monster Lives" (yes, i've read it because i was fascinated about the process behind making this documentary), Berlinger goes into detail about exactly how Blair Witch 2 was completely fucked from the get-go. I mean, sure, he could have been covering for himself, but the stories he tells of meddling producers, the demand that he re-write the script from scratch like 2 days before filming...all of it sounds like your typical Big-Studio-Screws-the-Pooch-By-Not-letting-
the-Filmmaker-Make-A-Damn-Movie movie.
Anyway, i own the movie on DVD and i love it. I love it for it being unintentionally hi-fuckin-larious, and i love it for being, really, a fantastic piece of documentary filmmaking. Seriously, the editing in the movie when performances are spliced together is really great.
OH! And i looove the bonus scene in the DVD where the rappers come in to sample some riffs, and then they show them in the studio laying down some rap lyrics over them and there's all these faceless members of the posse playing dice, smoking doobs, and spreading hundreds across a MIDI keyboard. Holy shit.

36I watched this again last night and its amazing. What everyone seems to be missing is they are/were the biggest metal band in the world. Of course its a business you retard! A lot of bands I bet we all love were a business by the time they got anywhere near 20 years in the game. The Jesus Lizard was a business. Don't give em a hard time for it!
I really don't think Hetfield and Ulrich see it that way, the bit where they're made to do jingles and then they talk to their manager on the phone is priceless because I really believe the moment you watch is the moment the penny drops for Hetfield
"You mean we have to do this bullshit jingle to keep them happy?"
"Thats exactly what I mean. If you don't they won't play the record"
"THEY'D DO THAT?"
Being hard on them for not recording like Ian macKaye is a bit like ripping on Bruce Springsteen for not sounding like Melt Banana.

37i haven't seen it but i liked my cousin's comment: "too much bullshit, not enough playing. they should drink much more, like they used in the 80's cause their records sucks when they're recording it sober. plus i bet we could make a decent record too if we had dozens of technicians recording and editing every little bit of music we play"
edit: i must had watched about 5 times since i wrote this comment. it's your fault.

In the bonus DVD, there is footage of Kirk Hammett going to traffic school. To make matters worse, the guy actually goes to the head of the class and sings some horrible song he wrote about traffic laws. It is beyond terrible. Go watch it now. Priceless. It is easily the most embarassing thing I've seen this year.
Salut, Kirk Hammett! You have no good sense or shame! Jackass!
i just read dr. awkward's posts about the very same scene in the other thread. is it on youtube or anywhere else? i only have the divx file of the main movie.

39This might just be the funniest goddamn movie ever. It hurts to think that I actually admired these fools when I was 12 or so. It is so bad that it is actually quite genius. Kind of like the fat Vegas-era Elvis. Hilarious without intending to be hilarious....which, BTW, is the best type of hilarious. Good Lord....someone really needs to get these fuckers into some crazy-ass sequined type jumpsuits in a fucking hurry before the window of oppotunity closes. Hurry...it will be priceless I tell you.
