ATP is always good for just milling around but this year the socialising was minimised by the biblical weather and I missed the thing of just wandering around and running into bands playing rather than there being no overlaps between bands meaning you could see everything. I like being surprised by a band and the Shellac ATP had that completely.
Of course if I curated then it would have been compered by Mr T and headlined by ZZ Top so what the hell do I know?

and you people! Sons & Daughters are a fine band. you make out like they're some fashion band whereas all those people have been drunk as lords at ATP for the last 5 years running and deserve to be there as much as anyone.

Were it not for the truly excellent company*, I would've had a wholly terrible time.

I appreciate that Melvins played very well, sounded great, and rocked hard. But, I don't like melvins much, so, meh.

Mogwai was very good, imho, even taking their drummer into account. I thought the first song was a really great start to the day.

As many have already mentioned, Slint was tight, and sounded EXACTLY like the records. I mean, from the snare sound to the chorus on the Tweez songs. It was eerie, and would've been perfect had it the whole show not seemed like the band were forcibly wrenched from anything like an appropriate context and rammed into teh NME stage at T in the Park.

Easily the worst crowd EVER. For any show I've been to.

Incidentally, I have never had any trouble at ATP, having attended every year since the Mogwai 2000 one, until this year. There seemed to be a lot of idiots about. This is the only ATP where nobody smiled very much, and where I considered leaving on Sunday morning to beat the traffic.

Ah well; we'll see who is curating next year, and MOST IMPORTANTLY who they ask to play. I'm not buying tickets until I know that I will be entertained for a weekend, even if that means that I might miss out if it sells out early.

Somebody mentioned (TMH?) that if anybody deserves to cash in, its slint. Well, that's fine, but they wont be getting any more of my money, and I know I speak for several of the people I went with when I say that.

ATP: meh
.

It's just you. Mogwai rule, literally. No, really, they actually do.

Nope, I agree too. I think they are spectacularly overrated, and sounding increasingly tedious. Last decade they seemed interested in their own extremes and aeshetic. I saw some of their set, on Saturday, and they looked as bored as me.

I asked after the Need New Body trainers, and they were size 11 and a half. I asked if that was US or UK size and he couldn't tell me - either way they wouldn't fit me.

Me too too.

Spectacularly dull band.

Nothing new or interesting brought to the table.

Rubbish.

I agree too, Mogwai suck. Slint-inspired wallpaper music. 'Crushing guitars' ? Who cares? I've been told by people that have met them that they have dissed other musical artists for ripping off a style/sound (don't want to get into particulars here). This especially bugged me considering they are such a 'post-rock' Slint rip off. Sorry I used the term post-rock (gross).

Mogwai are bairns, they play exactly what they want for as long as they want, they are more rock than most rock bands, and when your psychotherapist has come round to your house and abused the fact that you have a hard time distinguishing between different kind of relationships, leaving you fucked up and back to square one, and you're on mushrooms and it's all just a bit fucking much really, no-one else is going to see you out of it in the same way.

And when they do have lyrics, they're like this:

Tried my best
Failed the test
Did my worst
Came in first

If ever a band was worth rooting for it's Mogwai.
