Mike was also from Minneapolis. They were the Silver Spurs back then.

The Hobson bruthas are swell, of course, and should be mentioned on here indeed. And Haze did some fine work on that Her Mother's Sorrow/Shorty Eyes single...

I think Mike was originally from the Dakotas. Can't remember if it was North or South. I had a chance to help interview him for some zine when I was still in high school. He said that the state of Wisconsin was their biggest influence, especially when it came to lyrics and "aesthetics" (he didn't use that word). Sure, they weren't NATIVES like me, but they did a fine job encapturing the Wisconsin spirit! Musically, he did mention stuff like the Birthday Party, the Fall, the Pop Group, Gang of Four, etc. in terms of the basis of the sound. This mixed with a certain country/folk angle. I dunno. I shouldnt be over-anal-izing this...

I could talk about Killdozer all day. I just put em' on right now as I wrote this thread. If I commited some terrible crime and my sentence was that Killdozer was the only band I could ever listen to ever again, I would be fine with that...

I'm not even drunk, and here I am ranting and creating scenarios. Jeez.

Ben Adrian

This was "The Song" for the special married couple all-alone "dance" portion of my wedding reception.

Killdozer is so not crap.

edit: by that I mean that "Knuckles" was "Our Song"

Thanks for reminding me of this band! That's the reason I'm a lurker here.

I only know "Little Baby Buntin'". I loved it but somehow forget to listen to it for the last ten years. There aren't many records I listened to more often at that time. I'm listening to it right now. I still love it.

I remember driving a few hundred kilometres to see them live at that time. I had to drive alone because none of my friends wanted to come with me. There were maybe 20 people at the show. I also remember I had to vomit because they were so fucking loud or because of something else I can't remember exactly but I still remember how great they were.

I can't see how someone could vote crap on them.

NOT CRAP AT ALL.

Killdozer was better than everybody but Shellac yesterday.

So great.

So great.

It sounded like there was five guitar players onstage.

I don't know how a man sings like that for an entire set.

So great.

I laughed out loud many, many times.

So great.

I thought Big Black was great, I'm just saying that Killdozer couldn't be topped yesterday. It was beautiful. But I'm biased...

Oh, I guess I'm stupid, too.
