I knew New Order were the remaining former members of Joy Division, but I have a similar confession to make:

I considered myself a Joy Division fan, maybe a little short of obsessed, but I knew UP, Closer, and Substance very well. I wasn't familiar with New Order much at all, except "Blue Monday", and I assumed all their music sounded like that, so I wasn't that keen to start getting into them.

One day at work, I think some 80's Pandora station was on, and a song comes on that sort of bewildered me and stopped me in my tracks. It sounded a little too close to "Love Will Tear Us Apart", and I scoffed at what 80's band this was that blatantly copied the style of Joy Division.

I walk over to the media player and check to see who it was. It was New Order - "Age of Consent".

Felt pretty fucking dumb after that and downloaded like the first 4 albums and Substance when I got home.

The Clash guy or the Foreigner guy?

Doesn’t matter. Can’t disagree.
Clash. Foreigner is a bridge too far for me.

I was a DJ at my college radio station from 1987-1988. One day I was flipping through our new releases crate and came across an album called Songs About Fucking by a band I'd never heard of called Big Black. I looked at the cover and thought "That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen" and flipped right past it.
