I would totally fuck with that Jackson (put some passive pickups in it though).
Yeah, it isn't the worst thing. Bridge looks solid. I hate the inlays and headstock. Other than that, just seems like bass. Its not as ugly as all those smooth shaped Ibanez Basses
Gross!

Still, IMO, one of the ugliest guitars ever made. They aren't even fun to play unless you have baby hands. It's the worst sum of all its parts.
Reissues out this year for 1200$, grab yours now!

That Jackson is gross to me, but I think the worst thing about it is the pickup cover. Pickup covers and bridge covers to me say smooth and classy. They need to be on a bass with softer edges and rounded features, and also hopefully a more mellow color scheme. Even fiesta red was still a more mellow red than some.

That shape is the WORST. If you look at Cobain's original conceptual mock up of the guitar (the photo overlap), the shape actually works. But Fender really botched the execution when they made that body. Conversely, I actualy kinda like the look of the Courtney Love one...

It's pretty ugly, but at least hers looks like some weird 70's Japanese Tiesco, or something and not what would happen if you asked an 8th grader to draw a Fender Mustang from memory. There is a thing I keep seeing where companies rarely create a new guitar shape, and when they do its like a completely different design firm creates the pick guard and electronics layout without ever seeing the shape. It's why the St. Vincent guitar was so refreshing. It looks cool. I'd buy one, but I don't want to talk to people about St. Vincent every time I hold it.

You're right. I just relooked at the Venus and didn't remember the pickguard being so ugly. In my mind it was more like a solidbody Ric 360. I'd rather have a Toronado.
I still kinda want one of those St. Vincent guitars though. One with the firebird pickups.
As for the Jagstang, they should have let this guy do it:

FWIW, that bridge is a much better design than Rickenbacker's.
Wouldn't it pretty much have to be?

I like the Soundgear shape. I don't like transparent bright color woodgrain finishes, though. That's pretty painful.

Unspeakable Ibanez of the year award. This is to guitars what a McMansion is to architecture. It's just too many fucking things. Headless? Yup. Metallic pickup bobbins? Yup. Offset fret markers that change sides halfway? Try and stop them. Vintage seafoam finish? Why not!

Agree on all points BUT I like that for NAMM this year Ibanez had the balls to be like "The hot new Ibanez is...a STEINBERGER!"

Can I get this with a heavy relic nitro finish, monkey handle, robo tuners, gold foil in the bridge and EMGs in the neck/middle?
