I don't like seltzers, hard or otherwise. I'd rather just drink plain water, or a Coke.

Since quitting alcohol over 30 years ago, my primary recreational beverage was some form of cola, usually Coke. In the past ten years I have transitioned to root beers and ginger beers as the number of available craft brands has expanded:
Bundaberg Ginger Beer
Sioux City Sarsaparilla
Bulldog Root Beer
A&W Root Beer w/ cane sugar (12oz bottle)
I know there are many regional brands throughout the US and look forward to trying some of them. Maybe on a 2022 Root Beer Tour of the USA.

++ Has been a go-to for me. That and chai (latte).
Do any of the root beers you enjoy tend to be less sweet? ...still sweetened with good old sugar, but just less so?
Only the A&W root beer seems slightly less sweeter than the rest, which is why I tend to drink it more than the others. And yes, all of them are sweetened with cane sugar.

That used to be my favorite offering from the major soft drink makers, though don’t remember ever drinking it out of a glass bottle, and pretty sure what I was drinking was the syrupy version. I will be on the lookout for the bottles..
The ones I buy are bottled here in Vancouver. Not sure of their availability outside of Canada. They are sold in cardboard carrier 4-packs.

Just recently, lychee juice or the lightly-carbonated lychee drinks have replaced soda for me, when I'm not drinking alcohol.

A decade or so ago there was a fancy soft drink available in the UK called Aqua Libra that I really liked. It remains the only soft drink with a flavor as complex as good booze. It appears the name was retired, then relaunched as a line of flavored seltzers, so that's not what I'm talking about. This stuff was odd. Not too sweet, had elderberry and floral flavors along with a slight undertaste of vegetables like cabbage and cucumber. I used to look forward to going to the UK so I could drink it.

Which reminds me: Aquarius. Just the standard flavour thanks. Maybe the best thirst-quencher. Was a real boon in the desert.

oof.. yeah I just dropped $16 for a 6 pack of the NA IPA at the overpriced Co-op, it didn't seem so expensive the other night.. but man it's good.
(just checked Binny's online and it's no cheaper there)
