New record is real good. Recorded by former fm MTAR (aka Lil Bub's dude Mike)! Definitely feels like there's more Rob Crow in this one. Atom's drumming is great.

Agreed. Put it on today and found they've transcended being "a new Swami band with the guy from Pinback singing" (which was pretty cool) and made something more developed and idiosyncratic.

Might be sneaking in as a late entry in my best of 2025 list.

I grant you that this sounds ridiculous coming from a Hot Snakes fan but something about the name of this group bugs me

Yeah, it has many of the trendy 2010s conventions: plural noun with no 'the', removed vowels, all caps. Looking at you FACS.

FACS is a reference to that facial coding thing, isn't it? I get the point though, but FACS doens't strike me as that vein.

I just miss Hot Snakes a bunch. The other bands don't do it for me nearly as much (outside of a few Night Marchers songs).

I really enjoy the first song on the new LP and nothing after it excites me a whole bunch. Almost sounds like an alternate universe Jane's Addiction at times? I feel like Atom's drumming is almost too "session man" for me to get excited about.

I saw BC mention that FACS was a reference to the FAC51 catalogue number given to the Haçienda. I always assumed it was for the building that said FACS near O'Hare airport (Frozen Assets Cold Storage)!

I don't know how the first album was so great and the new one is so not. Maybe they should have recorded remotely again. Very disappointing.
