Might dick around with a better strap. Mine is just a simple nylon.
Oh yeah, I think you'll notice some improvement with either the Mono Betty or even the Couch straps.

Glad you're holding on to it!

Seriously. I don't know how anyone plays guitars without forearm contours, but obviously loads of people do, so that's just me.
That's the only thing that kept me from buying those sharp looking double cutaways Yamaha makes. I'm sure I'd wind up with a forearm blister after an enthusiastic set.

Gonna sink a couple hundred into my MIM. I just need to find the right time, since everyone with a guitar and a dream is moving to Austin and backlogging the repair shops.

Yeah I don't think this is a perfume-on-a-pig situation. MIM basses are usually quite good right off the rack and if you've had it for this long, I'm sure you picked a good one or you'd have ditched it already. This I think is one of the most important considerations when deciding on whether or not to tune-up/upgrades...and if you're still lusting a shiny new one, it's not like you're out a lot.

20 years ago I heard a joke about LA that was adapted to fit Austin: All you have to do is swing a guitar and you’ll hit someone with a shit band.

My Tele Custom is maybe my favourite sounding guitar - great stock bridge p/up, and a Creamery WRHB.

Talk me out of putting a Bigsby on it.

And if you can't, give me some shit about paying extra for the no-drill Vibramate mounting.

I would probably advise mounting with a Vibramate, or not at all.
It's really not fun returning a Tele to the stock bridge.

I've never been super happy with the results from an aftermarket Bigsby install.
That said I've found the key (with a no-drill Vibramate especially) is the neck angle - it's a little too much to compensate at the saddle.

Can you give me a bit more detail? Tone, action, fit of Bigsby...?

I love me a Bigsby, but I would be terrified of fucking with a guitar that is your favorite sounding guitar. That's just me though.

Why do you want a bigsby? they aren't as cool as they seem, unless you're really into them.
