^ That photo of Pantera reminds me of the fictional band Cheap Girls from the film The Money Pit.

Not to be that guy (or distract from the topic at hand) but you should watch Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House if you are unawares 👍

Seriously Compressing the Dumbshit thread idea...

Panera vs. Pantera

You can live forever, under any circumstances, provided you partake in one or the other, every other day, for a minimum of forty minutes.

You don’t get to simultaneously accuse me of classism and tell me to lighten up, dingus. The fucking fake working class, culture war shit, where ignorant, toxic things like Pantera get the official blue collar seal is a serious matter. Sucks that you’ve bought into it.

Pantera has some decent songs that I like, but they never really diverged from who they fundamentally were--their cover of "Planet Caravan" being the only true departure.

Alice in Chains has a lot more breadth with their music. Transitioning from "Dirt" to "Jar of Flies", as some have obliquely noted, gives them a pretty big edge in this faux contest, but they had already demonstrated this kind of dynamism by following up "Facelift" with the "Sap" EP.

"Facelift", "Dirt", and the self-titled albums are unquestionably "grunge" music, but Facelift and the self-titled album also seem to borrow/incorporate from other genres that demonstrates something more than the mere technical mastery of Dimebag Darrell or Vinnie Paul.

Alice in Chains by a long shot.
