The one thing I've noticed about all the posts especially on the socials is how many times BRW took to reach out to people he knew were struggling but have yet to note a single mention of how he might have reached out to express any need for help himself. Maybe this is not the case and he didn't reach out to any of us, but I think many of us just keep our struggles internal and don't share. And I have to wonder if the reason he reached out was in giving to also receive a bit of that support back w/out having to feel like a burden on anyone else or maybe just a case of "game recognize game" put him in a position to reach out because he knew what those feelings were like.
On a personal level, we always had loose plans to get together and ski/snowboard and hit up the climbing wall here in Kalamazoo. I'll always regret not working harder to make that happen but as others have mentioned, I did feel a little outclassed by him and thought maybe this was him just being nice or whatever...but I'm learning that he was a rare no-bullshit person & if he didn't want to be around you or do something w/ you, you'd know it.
