I’ve never seen either one, but there were also two bandwagon-jumping Allan Quartermain movies that came out after Raiders: King Solomon’s Mines and Allan Quartermain and the Lost City of Gold.enframed wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 8:05 am Could be Goonies, or maybe Romancing the Stone, Conan the Barbarian, or The Beastmaster. Probably there are others that have a scene something like that.

32Is it definitely not Temple of Doom?Wood Goblin wrote:I’ve never seen either one, but there were also two bandwagon-jumping Allan Quartermain movies that came out after Raiders: King Solomon’s Mines and Allan Quartermain and the Lost City of Gold.enframed wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 8:05 am Could be Goonies, or maybe Romancing the Stone, Conan the Barbarian, or The Beastmaster. 33In addition to all the previous suggestions, there was the TV series Tales of the Gold Monkey which was very post-Raiders.twelvepoint wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 5:34 pm Another movie!
When I was a kid I vaguely remember seeing a movie in a theater with my late father. It was probably early 80s. All I remember is a scene where some people are in a jungle or mountain and they come upon a cave entrance but the rocky entrance is carved in a giant skull shape. I recall it having an Indiana Jones vibe but it wasn’t Raiders. This is a super sketchy and faded memory and I’m not 100% sure it wasn’t a dream.
(And Roger Corman must have done a few rip offs, surely?)

34Could it have been the Advent receiver?Tom Wanderer wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:02 am When I was a little kid I had a receiver in my bedroom that had a round tuner dial on the right hand side with green illuminated numbers. It was smallish, not a full rack width like most nice pieces of stereo equipment, maybe 2/3rds of that in width. Nothing fancy, more likely a department store cheapie from the 60s or 70s. I think the faceplate was silver and the sides and top were wood. I saw a picture of one in somebody's IG story and asked them what it was and they never responded and the pic expired.
The main thing I remember is that round dial with the glowing green numbers at night.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Re: Help me remember thread
35It very likely wasn't fantasy like Conan because I think the characters at the skull cave were present-day. This memory is so long ago but I can't imagine it was after like 1985. Shit maybe it was Temple of Doom but I haven't seen that since it was originally out. I'm gonna watch Goonies (never seen it!) first then will go through some other suggestions. It wasn't Romancing the Stone (which I saw back when, and again recently (still great)).
Unrelated, but that Advent receiver is hot.

37Well, maybe you have...
And no, it's not Welcome to the Dollhouse, it was a foreign film. German or French, Danish maybe...def NOT English language.
Re: Help me remember thread
38Definitely wasn't Firewalker, but this looks incredible. Basically, I'm going to spend my next 4 months of free time watching movies from 1975-1985 with cave scenes. I'm going to include that Birthday Party doc with the Cave movies too.atomjackfuser wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 2:19 pmFirewalker?twelvepoint wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 5:34 pm Another movie!

40No, but I wanna see that now. The one I am thinking of was NOT an English language film, and not a horror film.
