I feel naked with out a watch. Been sporting a Casio with a calculator for years. Use to have some nice Citizen's but had trouble getting them repaired and getting new bands.

I've never met a man that wanted a watch just to keep time. I have met plenty that wanted them for reasons like faking social status and impressing strangers. For this reason I don't trust boys/men who talk about watches. Usually there is something gross inside that led them to this interest. Crap.
I like my nostalgaic Casio. Fashion Item: Rolex (or Hublot or whatever) for sure gets a Crap vote though.

My mechanic friend has a pocket watch which he's carried around with him for years, his reasoning being that he does too much high impact work with his hands that would probably end up breaking a wristwatch. He's also pretty decidedly anti/non gadget, and still uses a flip phone.

I used to wear one when I was younger, but I seem to remember always scratching the face of it whenever I'd walk too close to the side of any kind of concrete/brick wall.
I don't judge people who wear them.

Being somewhat of a paper pusher, I don't really have a concern about this for myself, but I can definitely understand why folks that work with handheld tools or around machinery would not want to wear a watch or any jewelry for that matter. Not only could your friend potentially break his wristwatch... but also his wrist.

Not crap at all. I still wear one every day. I use my phone plenty as it is, thanks.

I got an apple watch a little over a month ago. It's kinda annoying to wear but I've been enjoying it as a way to track my exercise and to remind me to stand up once an hour and all that shit. Found out my normal resting heart rate is between 40 and 45 bpm, which is a little wild.

40-45?! Damn, you must be a very relaxed person.
I agree the Apple Watch is nice for the fitness stuff. I like the heart rate monitor for cardio stuff, and the daily rings are a subtle prod for me to hit some baseline level of activity each day. But other than that, I don’t care about Siri commands or custom faces or reading text messages on my wrist.
