And this is why I changed my major from Theater to English within my first quarter of college (and this is after four years of doing as much high school and community theater as I possibly could).

I just found out what the show Schmigadoon! is about. It sounds like a war crime.

Here's a problem I encounter with blowhards. Let's say they're jabbering away and they happen to mention Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Now, I saw Screamin' Jay Hawkins live years ago. I'm about to interject this anecdote into the "conversation" but by the time I clear my throat, Screamin' Jay is in the blowhard's rear view mirror. They're cruising down the highway at 95 mph with barely a pause for breath and already onto a different topic. My aside would be pointless so I keep it to myself. Assholes.

Somewhat related to Dave N's original post ... I've been doing underground radio for years and one of my pet peeves is DJs who are in love with the sound of their own voices. Last week while driving to the store I was flipping between Tucson's three independent music stations (including the one I work for) and didn't hear one goddamn song, just blah blah blah.

These folks are really frustrating. What's the expression: "[he/she/they] sucks the oxygen out of the room"? If you don't pause conversation after a certain amount of time, it becomes a lecture, not a conversation.
