Re: Band: Stone Temple Pilots
32Christ, this band. And no amount of Zeppelin aping like on Interstate Love Song will change that. 90's-Robert DeLeo is boner fuel tho which is weird because his brother isn't.

33Seattle Pilots, original MLB team in town. Lasted one season before moving to Milwaukee and becoming the Brewers.zorg wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 12:42 pm I think it was Cobain who was raggin' on them, how they were a second rate Pearl Jam, whom he already shat on....but pointing out that STP were obviously a corporate conspiracy to create a "grunge" Monkees, specifically how their name directly referenced Stone (Gossard), Temple (of the Dog)...but I simply can't rembember what the Pilots was in reference to.
Stone Temple Pilots were better than the Seattle Pilots. That little two-note riff in Vasoline is good. The little open version of Rebel Rebel lick in Interstate Love Song.
At the time, I thought they were ridiculous. Nowadays, hardly any big mainstream rock bands--who cares--and like most old people I look back a little fondly (if guardedly so) at the past. They weren't Free or Thin Lizzy, but they also weren't Everclear or Paw. Bad Company/Alice in Chains territory.
Not crap but I'm not doing a lot of research here
Re: Band: Stone Temple Pilots
34True, but I doubt any former Stone Temple Pilots will ever write a memoir as good as Ball Four.

The "grunge" Mr Mister? What would that make them? Mr Mesa, maybe.

38Uh, yeah. It was literally the first cheap grunge gear-related pun that worked for me straight off the bat.Krev wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 11:45 amAs in Boogie Dual Rectifier?the letter o wrote: Fri Apr 21, 2023 6:07 pm Execrable.

I talk disjointed music-related guff over here. You're welcome.

39Tiny Music... has some solid jams on it. "Trippin' on a Hole..." is a go-to karaoke tune for me.
I think of those first 3 records, there's one album's worth of very good-to-great songs.
Would rather listen to them than Alice In Chains.
