Tree's Hombres, probably the best one? It's the only one I have on vinyl besides Fandango!, so it's certainly the one I listen to the most. It is also one of the best lazy sunny Sunday records ever made. When my wife played roller derby I was the league's DJ and "La Grange" was her jam jam and hearing it will always make her wistful for those days. If you have Sirius/XM, you've probably run across the station "Classic Vinyl", who will play the shitty 80s CD versions of the hits from the album, which sucks.

Tejas beats it on music and art, but Tres Hombres rules too.

GREAT album obviously. That said, the peak of Zz top to me is the studio side of Fandngo but since the live side is such a bar-rock nightmare, Tres... obviously wins. Oh yeah, Tejas is their best "groove-rock" album but none of the songs are on the level of the stndouts on "tres ..."; Tejas to me is essentially their Powerage or Bomber:awesome album that I play more than the "hit" records but which I can't in good conscious call "better"...

Powerage is also my fav AC/DC record, so you might be onto something. Dunno if Bomber is quite the right album here, IMO Another Perfect Day is more Motorhead's equivalent of Tejas. (Great musicianship, unusual vibe, went down badly when released but later reappraised.)

Tejas has this cool atmosphere (more literally than figuratively) that the album art captures - blue moods, the desert at night, wandering lonely but open to the universe... sorta like the Meat Puppets' Mirage (another contrerian fav of mine).

Esp love 'El Diablo', that jams hard, then the mid-section opens up so wide you loose contact w/ reality as the music expands and shimmers... then when that riff kicks back in... always blows me away.

Let me put it this way: I even like the shitty 80s remix of Tejas (despite SRV vibes). That's how great I think it is.

Yep, Tejas is great, moody. May be their best overall. Love the cover art also .

I don't think I could pick T.H. or Tejas as better. They're both too unique.

I believe Robin Hood Studios in Tyler, TX is still open!
