JFC it's like they took old surplus radio shack speaker cable and printed some blue text on it & then jacked up the price x100

I don't even know who to be mad at when I see things like this just pure hateful unadulterated rage that it exists or existed at all - like if there weren't a market of really stupid people with way too much money, shit like this wouldn't exist. Maybe that's what's so offensive to me, that we live in a world where people are unhoused and starving and these choads will drop $1k on something that would sound the same as a $2 cut of lamp cord.

Brilliant grift work, A+ I guess
I work with people that know "know how the sausage is made" and of the voodoo that exists in music gear, yet still fall victim to this often. There's something with the brain, it's FOMO or if the suggestion exists that something COULD be better, then yes. And often it's to play guitar at home *shrugs*.

I've had to repeatedly show people things on signal generators and scopes to convince otherwise (or to prove when something really DOES matter)

I tried to find the video but once on youtube I saw a guy push white noise through fancy pants speaker and a length of coat hanger wire and looked at an oscilloscope or the like and found zero difference. I think he even said if the coat hanger wire was spaced apart right it preformed better than the thousands of dollars horseshit.

That might have been from Audioholics. Would recommend the site.

To add to the list of ways to differentiate at a glance between speaker and instrument cable, I've been using these Neutrik jumbo plugs: https://www.parts-express.com/Rean-NYS2 ... le-092-147

My old approach was taping off the actual connecter portion and dipping the screw-on body in a can of colored goo: https://plastidip.com/product/plastidip/ Probably cheaper, easier and neater to do this kind of color coding with heat shrink tubing now.

Unfortunately, neither method prevented me from melting an OT by forgetting to plug the amp into the cabinet. At least it was a 5W ClassicTone and not a vintage one.

Oh and for the real budget-minded, keep your eye out for vacuum cleaners on garbage day. I have so much 2-conductor cord now I've started fixing lamps for friends and family.
