I'm intrigued with the option of putting chocolate sauce on meat but have yet to take the plunge.

The stuff out of a jar is not great but surely someone can recommend a great red mole in Chicago.

Capsaicin lovers: how hot is hot?

I'd say I like spicy food and enjoy burning out my taste buds for, I dunno, say 10 minutes or so. That would be like 1-2 pinches of ghost powder in a serving.

Strangely, since having prostate surgery in January (I'm doing well now), my tolerance and desire for spiciness went way up.

Scoville units are... I'm not going to say inaccurate... but they rarely indicate exactly how much pain I'm going to be in if I eat something. It is so dependent on what (if anything) you're eating the hot thing with, and of course how much of it you eat.

I've eaten a raw jalapeño by itself that just about killed me.

I've sliced up a whole habanero (supposedly 10 to 50 times hotter) into a burrito and was absolutely fine. It was great.

Yeah scovilles don't tell you much. I have a sauce in the fridge that's rated over a million SU and.. it's hot don't get me wrong, but manageable. A bite out of a Carolina Reaper or whatever would likely be way, way worse. (I don't really eat raw peppers other than sliced jalapenos or serranos)

Extract sauces are supposed to be way worse than just ground up chiles too. I don't believe I've tried any.

spicy chocolates
No.

Why not just shove ginger root up an orifice? It feels great and burns like a Deep Purple record.
ah yes, figging

Yeah it's nearly impossible to know beforehand "how bad is this gonna hurt?" I can only say there's a sweet spot for me where like, the heat lingers, but only for like 10 minutes. That's a nice feeling.

That seems about right.

If something is so hot that I start hiccupping, dripping uncontrollably from the eyes and nose, and need to find a gallon of milk immediately, it's too much. As mentioned, I've done the "One Chip Challenge" a few times, and this is what ends up happening. It's about as smart as playing Edward Fortyhands.

New pepper breaks world record: https://apnews.com/6dd3e548283e4b32b8037011851f12a1 .

Not looking to bite into a raw one, but would definitely try it in a sauce.
