I still think their debut album fucking slays, and listen to it every so often. So good.

I’m on the fence re: REO Speedwagon. They were hugely popular, and their period of fame lasted pretty long by pop music standards. Yet no bands emulated their sound, and you virtually never hear them.
But I also wonder whether they’re still vibrating, just under the surface, just waiting for the next Sox World Series/HBO series finale to bring them back into the zeitgeist.
They show up more than once in the first 4 hours of MTV
I think the first couple years of MTV kind of burned them into people's brains.

The ones that get me are the opening acts for huge bands that I've never heard of. Opening for Led Zepperlin....Edward Bear? Opening for the Beatles...The Remains?
Also, where is Yanni? That guy owned PBS for a minute there.

The Power Of Love has a habit of turning up on soundtracks, most recently (and prominently) in
All of Us Strangers.

Liz Phair
I know that Snail Mail has cited Liz Phair as an influence, it wouldn't surprise me if other current indie rock girls said the same.
