Mis-heard lyrics of Fame Throwa from Pavements Slanted & Enchanted, were the influence on the lyrics to a song called "Arsehole Ride" of a band I used to be in.

"Astral rites from dead-end ruts" = "Arsehole Ride from a dead end slut"

I only found that out last friday and we've been split up over 8 years!!!!

A poet called Kenneth Goldsmith has written a book entirely comprised of misheard lyrics. It's called Head Citations, and the title comes for the misheard lyric, "I'm pickin up good vibrations / She's givin me head citations".

I know someone who used to think, right up until my sister corrected her, that the Aerosmith lyric was "Treeeat her like a lady!". Puts a slightly different, much more bland take on that song.

Here are some good ones I heard about:

1) The Who - Eminance Front - "Livin' In The Bronx".

2) Macy Gray - "I Try" - "I blow bubbles when you are not near" instead of "My world crumbles when you are not near"

3) Outkast - Hey Yah - "Shake it like a corduroy pizza" instead of "Shake it like a Polaroid Picture"

"Big ol' Jet Airliner" - "Bingo Jed had a light on"

"Tenth Avenue Freeze-out" - "Tap Dancing on a Freezer"

These are a few that I can think of off the top of my head. My wife has a thousand of the "oh, that's really what they are saying? I thought ________."

The bingo jed one looks funny when written out.

There was a song in the charts about 4 or 5 years ago that I never actually listened to properly, just heard it in passing.

But I always sang along:

panama! just heard this at a bar on thursday. got me to thinking... the part just following the talking, immediately after the line "reach down, between my legs, and ease the seat back..." what the fuck does he say after that??!!? the only words i feel like i understand are "power steering" and "there'll be no stopping now". WTF are the rest of those words?
