saying its refreshing for radio can be compared to saying burning to death is just a little worse than drowning.

33Once upon a time in san diego I was driving home from work
and on the radio playing (oh so seductively.) was the coldplay song,
the scientist. Lo and behold the song was saying all the right things for my mood. which was depressed and shitty. At this point i thought to myself...
"yeah, hits all the right buttons. contrived? yes."
Now change coldplay to poison and play "every rose has it's thorn"
Coldplay you are so the crap in the apple of my eye.

34NOT CRAP.
Medium low.
One of the few great MOR singles-bands of the moment.
Would NEVER buy a record by them, but they make a pleasant soundtrack to shopping for groceries.
Also I am strangely fascinated by the drummer's almost complete refusal to play fills.

35There will always be fun pop bands that have some catchy (and even beautiful) moments but lack the gravitas to really knock you out. I don't have a problem with that and enjoy that "Clocks" song almost as much as Ma Clortho's squirrel casserole.
I'm not feeling the vitriol that has been dished out against Coldplay. What is the other option? 100% Killers on the radio and 100% Drag City records at home?
NC. WF: I may have a burned CD that I never listen to (I have to check), but I happily stop flipping radio stations when I hear one of their tunes.

36Inventing this band to make them seem more interesting by comparison is the smartest thing Radiohead never did.
Crap.
Shitty radio gets far, far, shittier than Coldplay.
And bumble, the relationship is:
Mediocre music > Killers > Coldplay > Bad music

Why do you make it so scary to post here.

38Wow. Did you catch some exotic malaise on your honeymoon? Do you have a fever? Have you been *gulp* reeducated?
Splintery sticks in my eyes > The Killers.
I haven't hated anyone like I've hated that simpering effete fool of an eyeliner-wearing lead singer since...since last week when that moron at Potbelly's fucked up my order.
Cage! Match!

39B,
Honeymoon starts in 5 days! No fever yet! Although my fiancee does like the Killers, I don't think she's going to win me over.
But - the Killers get a sizable waffle factor in my eyes (and I know I'm alone here in not utterly loathing the Killers - though I do dislike them) for playing rock and roll rather than that slow morose moody gloomy mumbling of Coldplay. Another relationship:
Radiohead's worst (barely)> U2's worst (barely)> DMB's worst (barely)> Coldplay (barely)> Five for Fighting
And they all sound pretty similar.
Is there another game being formed here?

40I'm trying to figure out the DMB connection here. Coldplay make simple 4-guys-in-a-mopey-band music. DMB is like 15 guys making the busiest (read: crappiest) subPaulSimon music I've ever heard in my life.
You can hear them both at Starbucks?
Anyways, enough about shitty bands! congrats LVP! Best wishes!
