I feel like I'm blowing my posting wad on one topic here, but it's the one nearest my heart. I would refer anyone needing a good primer on hating bands based on their gear to peruse the following article written by one Christopher Jury with whom I have wasted literally hundreds of hours talking about gear:

You Are What You Play

While I completely agree with 95% of this article, I would like to point out one slightly questionable inclusion in the final category "The Shit". My list of gear that is "The Shit" does not include the Roland JC-120. In its place, please substitute the Vox AC30.

I actually heard someone acredit Fugazi as the founder of the Emo genre, he was hit by a meteor shortly thereafter

This person was probably mentally ill, making the connection that since Guy Picciotto and Brendan Canty were in Rites of Spring (which did found the "Emo" genre) that fugazi was some sort of extension of the latter-mentioned, which of course, is not the case at all.

As far as bands (etc.) i hate, here goes:

*Anti-Flag
*any "punk" band with the word "liberty" or some such word in their name
*Tim McGraw
*Bands that use being "artistic" and/or "groundbreaking" as an excuse to sound like shit.
*Reel Big Fish
*Nickelback
*Bands who obviously sound exactly the same as everyone else (and are fully conscious of this), but deny it
*Default
*Trapt
*Staind
*any other band using a misspelled participle for their name
*Korn
*anyone still playing "hardcore". to them i would like to ask why in the world would they want to even attempt to play something remotely resembling music if they cant come up with anything better than a formula that was both perfected and overplayed twenty years ago.
*and finally, though i love black flag, i would like to say that "You Bet That We've Got Something Personal Against You" is THE worst song EVER.

insane clown posse. Sometimes I wonder if it's some long sick joke and they're just gonna come out one day and be like "Ha just kidding, we're auto mechanics."

i shouldn't like this thread but,god, i do.

emo kids who desperately want to look like the singer in Weezer

"intellectuals" who think that dressing in black will make them look like "proper intellectuals"

people that drive their cars too fast

people who try to skip lines (half of the Italian population)

Well, looks like I'm fucked, then. Glad we got that out of the way.

I just want there to be a clear record of my thinking that The Gossip are the worst thing ever to come out of Olympia, WA. And that is saying something.

And Dan: I was trying to cover all the bases with "the Shit'. If i were going to own a solid state amp, which i'm probably not, it would be the JC120. They actually sound pretty good, so long as you avoid the built in distortion (I've heard tell that the chorus is top shelf, but i'm not really a chorus kind of dude). Cheetah Chrome did manage to coax some decent sound out of a line 6, but that is kind of an oddity, and seems like more work than it's worth.
