i listened to your song before steve or anyone else responded, and really didn't think a whole ton of it. not terrible, not earth-shattering... pretty much my favorite thing about it was that i was hearing the big black coming through in a few spots. really, for that, i could just listen to big black. mashups aren't anything i get particularly into.

that being said, i am meh on your mashup, but sincerely impressed with how you've handled the subsequent pile-on.

So, as we were saying, mash-ups.*

I like mash-ups. Not as serious art, which they aren't, but as an interesting experiment in recontextualization. That's when they're good, at least, which is not a word I'd use to describe most mash-ups - most suck ass, because most people don't have the rhythmic or harmonic sensitivity to do them well, and just settle for slapping a vocal track over a four bar sample.

Also, way to keep it together, Hench.

i will certainly take requests. i dunno when i'll actually fulfill those requests. anybody who wants to hear something in particular can pm me. i'm not entirely comfortable with the idea -- there's something in there that seems a bit patronizing.
