The problem with "rehabilitating" pedophiles and child molestors is the same fallacy you'll find in the Exodus Program of the Lutheran Church trying to "rehabilitate" gays. People have an inherent sexual preference. Most people are attracted to the opposite gender. Other people are attracted to the same. Some are attracted to both. Hell, some are attracted to animals or corpses.
And then there are people who are attracted to kids. And I think they can be cured about as much as gays can be "cured".

As for repayment of debts to society, I would suggest deregulation of prison labour standards to allow the use of convict labour as an alternative to funnelling billions of dollars into the sweatshop economies of China, Taiwan and Indonesia. Surely NAFTA has allowed the United States the legal provisions to herd their terminal crooks south of the border where entire prison economies could be installed. Maybe it's the Australian in me; I can think of nothing better to straighten someone out than deportation to a hostile environment, followed by years of back breaking labour.[/i]

well, uh... unless there's absolute proof, you have to budget for hte possibility of a wrongful conviction. it's nice if it's not like "oh, sorry... i guess you're innocent... probably shouldn't have chopped your balls off..."

40Well, I would expect there to be a catalogue of proof. DNA, medical examinations, cctv if it was there, that kind of thing. I would have already pointed this out, but I thought it a little obvious.
