Ty Webb wrote:HA! I was wondering if that fiasco was going to show up. I'm a heavy, HEAVY poster on that site. That thread got out of hand, but it boils down to this:
The promoter/club owner of that festival is a stand-up guy who's been in the business a long time and who's never fucked anyone over.
O'Malley acted like an art-school prima donna dick and was lucky not to get his ticket punched.
And going to a small music fest and not bothering to listen to a single other band on the bill? Rude CRAP.

If Steve threw a monitor off the stage and had no good reason to do it, that's not cool. But I've seen fucking Sebadoh do that.
When Eric Gaffney did it, the soundman threatened to kill him, he walked off, and that was that.
In this case, the booker goes online and complains at length that:
--Sunn asked for too much money etc. The complete details of which were so classily reprinted in his post. Why he acceded to their demands, we'll never know. What a charitable fellow.
--Sunn's music is boring, though not quite boring enough to not book.
--They weren't nice enough to him, though somehow he was in a fine mood until O'Malley threw the monitor.
All the while, he blows his own horn as a guy who is happy-go-lucky (yet also super tough) and doesn't like to live in the past.
It's a little weak. Kind of like paying someone thousands of dollars to play your festival and then telling them their music isn't your cup of tea.

Man, who cares. I've done this a million times on tour. The last thing you want to do sometimes is watch live music. especially when you're playing live music yourself every night.
