304I'm not even sure if this is some sort of a joke or not...
Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
306It's not even that...
More that it's just one shade when the guy in question was using so many of them. That bit of "Every Breath You Take" was just all wrong with that pedal.
Re: Interesting Gear Developments Thread
307This is simply their modern analog Deluxe Electric Mistress (the green one) with a new paint job. They basically discontinued the other paint job the same day. I guess they learned an important marketing lesson on how to move more units with that J Mascis signature release. And yeah, they didn’t nail the settings (one has to assume it can’t get closer) which isn’t going to help things.numberthirty wrote: Mon Jul 31, 2023 3:47 pm I'm not even sure if this is some sort of a joke or not...
Side note: Andy used the 18v version (non Deluxe) for all of the early “Chorus” sounds on Police songs. But I think he’d acquired a Boss CE-1 by the time Synchronicity was recorded. So who knows what’s on Every Breath.

A bit more info on the "new" Sunn amps, looks like they're doing a full line from $500-$3K with Mission Engineering. I'm guessing the cheapy stuff will just be Class D practice amps but it'd be fun if they at least tried to make a Beta Lead.

309I'm not stoked about this even as a Sunn fanboy.
They're saying a lot of the right things but the record of companies buying familiar vintage brand names and logos and continuing the legacy of innovation speaks for itself. Hell, Fender already tried this once 25 years ago and failed utterly. Every product they came out was Sunn-in-name-only. The only thing noteworthy to come out of it being an all tube bass amp competitor to the SVT. The Model T they did was...fine...the usual nu-metal sounding high-gain thing...but well-documented nothing like the original.
Even if they do make an exact replica of a Model T, that will certainly be what you find on that high-end of the price range and $3000 is a lot of tacos.
Similar to Acoustic Control Corp and many others, it'll always be just about the old shit.
All that old-fart nonsense being said, maybe an ultra-light Beta Lead could be a thing and I guess I'd be stoked about that.
