Yesterday, a couple of friends came over. One of them has never heard PiL. I was playing Metal Box, "Swan Lake" in particular, and he asks me why I was listening to Blondie.

my sister came over with her daughter who is 20months old.
i let her place my bass. everytime she hit the low E i went "bo-o-o!" singing the note back to her.
then she hit it again and went "bo-o-o-." and smiled.

I've been letting my beard grow for a while. Last night, I shaved the hair off of my chin, leaving my mustache connected to prodigious sideburns.
This morning, while brushing my teeth, it occurred to me that I now look like a cross between an old-school biker and Captain Kangaroo.

Subbed on bass for a friend's band...played in Portland.
I strongly recommend stopping by Powell's and Jackpot Records if anyone ends up visiting, unless you are on a budget and have problems with impulsive shopping. My visits have resulted in a great record, a pile of books, and future trips to the food bank.
I am particularly excited by my acquisition of James Branch Cabell's 'Gallantry', which I just found out happened to be the book found in Mark Twain's hands when he died. Kind of creepy, that...
