Absolutely as good a reason as any to root for Boston.

Not so fast. The Rockies don't have a monopoly on this Christian crap. This piece is a little old but still applies to several players on the Sox roster:

If you're a baseball fan, and I am, you're just going to have to forget about this kind of nonsense if you expect to enjoy a game.

Trot Nixon gone to CLE
Mike Timlin big time Hunter REP type guy
Tim Wakefield likes guitar hero
Jason Varitek voice never matches his face
Curt Schilling whacky

When it comes to the playoffs, throw out OBP. As the saying goes, pitching and defense win championships. Youk is their 1B and Lowell is their 3B. Makes no sense to me to put Papi in the field and expose his defensive liability. How many games has he played in the field this year?

As for leaving Beckett in, I don't think that was a bad move. Starters are accustomed to throwing a certain amount of pitches. The Rockies sure weren't making him work too hard. But tonight is the key to the Series. I agree, last night was a must-win game for the Red Sox. Tonight probably is too, although with Beckett throwing one game in the Mile High City, the pressure is equal for the Rockies. The way they flailed at Beckett's pitches showed more than a little rust to me. Looked more like they lost their mojo. Or Jebus took it away.

Middle of the Fifth and Schilling looks to be 'settled in'. Jiminez seems to have unraveled a bit and just barely survived the fourth. This is a good game so far. If Colorado's gonna do something they'd better do it quick, before Boston figures out Jiminez.

Also, Tim Macgarver cracks me up, he just said Ramierez will "attack like a cobra in a basket".
