Are you collectively going to put up with being a fully authoritarian Christian Nationalist country?
No, but it seems the forces that control this country want some Larry the Cable Guy version of Sharia Law.

I don't know if and how this craziness will ever stop.
Either we become a fully authoritarian Christian Nationalist country, or we end up splitting into separate countries.
I look forward to being a citizen of Pacifica - the fourth largest economy in the world, with a arsenal of nuclear subs with Polaris missiles and fully carbon neutral economy, and universal healthcare.

I will be moving to this place, probably dangerously a la
Handmaid's Tale. Sorry Milwaukee, once home of the sewer socialists: you had a nice run, but turns out statewide you aren't much better than Mississippi, and a lot fuckin' colder.

Serious question that I find myself pondering. Once you have authoritarian control it can be difficult to get rid of even when people overwhelmingly don't want it, like in Myanmar, Hong Kong, Iran, etc etc.
I'm curious as to how this plays out when the educated liberal majority of the US are forced to live in right-wing theocratic derp-land with no viable way out. What happens when President Bobert decrees the Democratic party is a terrorist organisation and belief in climate change is blasphemy?

The rest of Illinois, outside of Chicagoland, isn't much better. Lucky for us, there's way more in Chicagoland than the rest of the state.
Maybe it's time to start petitioning for a new state in the Midwest consisting solely of the Milwaukee and Chicago metropolitan areas. Maybe somehow include Madison in there, too.

If California broke up into states the size of Wyoming they would have 134 senators. You'd get 12 senators just from Los Angeles.

Maybe NE Illinois that extends up to Door County or so, where lots of FIBs have summer homes. Just ditch the parts of Illinois that are basically Indiana.

I don't know.
Right now, trying not to panic.
I should probably stick to threads about cereal and chips.

I did notice much focused attention being put into the matter of whether cereal is a soup at this pivotal moment in world history.

Living in Florida, I'm
thrilled at the prospect of this.
Who needs shirt sleeves anyway?
