API gear is hideously fucking ugly. Just looking at a photo of a piece gives me vertigo. It looks like it was designed by an eight year old in craft class out of scraps of crepe paper and a glue stick.

Thin Lizzy are a song band, not an album band. It’s confusing because they’re from the heyday of album bands. Much like their twin-lead-guitar descendants Judas Priest. There’s plenty of gold to be found in both though.

Speaking of the guy, George is a sacred cow worth tipping, along with Bill Hicks, because they never got a guffaw from me. Some comedians gripe about woke standup depending on "clapter" instead of real jokes, but those guys were fueled by the stuff decades ahead of everyone else. Really good comedians can say things you disagree with and still be funny. If Carlin and Hicks weren't making a point about one thing or another then they wouldn't have any material, and if they weren't saying things the audience agreed with then they'd get no response! On your side in the cow patty with ye lads.
I'm not the biggest Carlin fan out there, but man, there are elements of Bill Hicks material where he seems like he's making fun of us from some high perch until you realize he's actually trying to point out all of our own absurd beliefs and behaviors, then turns the joke not only on himself but makes us the ones laughing at him.

There's a part of the flying saucer tour where he is just begging the audience to hop on the ride with him, and he's asking an audience member a question who looks back at Hicks saying "me?" where he replies with "No him, I'm fucking crosseyed! If I'm looking at you and talking to you let's go ahead and assume it's you I'm talking to!" where I'm howling every time. He's so fucking done with everything and everyone but he composes himself in about 2 seconds to continue the conversation.

It's great.

Any 'golden era' SNL I've gone back to completely sucks. I don't recall laughing at any of it until Eddie Murphy came along.

For me the peak was the early to mid '90s, especially when Norm Macdonald came along.

Is there really such a thing as "woke comedians"? I thought that was a category made up by Maga comics who play rallies.

Okay that guy is pretty much woke comedy. I'll put this next to punk songs about "the scene", meta boring.

He's right. It's just not funny.
