I guess that's what uncritical thinking does for you. I fail to see the intelligence in the design from my appendix; a left-over shrunken stomach for digesting all those leaves we stopped eating a couple of hundred thousand years back. It's even more intelligent when it gets appendicitis attempts to kill me... Nice one God, thanks a lot.
Upon your return, Gramsci, let's revive this thread. I wanted to do this earlier but simply had not the disposition nor time to do so.
Where is it definitively said that the cecal appendix has no function and is simply a little dangle from the colon? It seems, from the very competent doctors and surgeons I have spoken to while being treated for IBD, as well as literature that is ought there for the taking, that in fact the appendix may very well have a lymphatic/immunoregulatory function, which in turn might play a role in the etiology of IBD.....but that's all theory at the present because all that is definitely known is that the appendix contains lymphatic tissue, which obviously implies that there is a function inherent to the appendix rather than it being simply a vestigal part of the cecum. In any event, if in fact the cecal appendix has a function as seems to be the case given that it contains lymphatic tissue, it would seem that the evolutionary conclusion regarding its alleged non-function would be invalid and thus nugatory.
