I can't wait to finally finish Resident Evil 4.
If you still want to mod your PS2 try getting hold of 'SwapMagic' discs, and a set of magic keys ( or blue-tac and a paperclip). This has worked pretty well for me, allowing me to play import games with no chance of fucking up the console.
That's probably what I'm gonna do this time around. I have an old model so I'm going to try to load them off a harddrive so I can save the life of the laser.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that swapmagic is really only an easy option if you have a top loader/slimline PS2.
I'll add Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater to the list of must-have PS2 games as well, as I only remember seeing part 2 mentioned. For mine, Snake Eater is better than 2 by a mile, and one of the best PS2 titles hands down.
I'll also second Okami, Rez, Godhand, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and Resident Evil 4.
If you're into RPGs, Final Fantasy X and XII are great, with XII being outstanding.
Also the rhythm action games/ Guitar Hero precursors Frequency and Amplitude are really good fun, but as they are essentially 'Dualshock 2 Hero' they may be considered a bit redundant. You should be able to find them pretty cheap though.

Snake Eater is way more fun than Sons Of Liberty.
I'm trying to finally finish BioShock on the 360 and I'm also just getting into the first Fallout. Both games have such incredible atmospheres.

I started to play this recently too. It seems that Deus Ex and The Elder Scrolls owe something to it. It's pretty cool, though I became kind of bored with it and stopped.

It works just fine with older models of ps2 too according to the website. you just buy this "slide tool" thing or a replacement top for the ps2 instead of the magic switches.

I haven't been playing too many games lately, but this weekend I was out of town in a secluded location. I spent a lot of time playing Space Invaders Extreme DS and Arkanoid DS. I imported the dial controller for Arkanoid, and it is outstanding.
I strongly recommend both of these games, especially to my fellow geriatrics. For what it's worth, they are $20 each.

Yeah, I heard that the new Space Invaders is great. Add two more to the Tokyo shopping list!

...And Medevil Madness, but that's a pinball machine. It doesn't count I guess...
