Nice eye. Took me a minute to find the single black band.Dr Tony Balls wrote: Thu Jun 08, 2023 3:00 pmnope!Kniferide wrote: Thu Jun 08, 2023 2:57 pm curious about the Zero Resistor. is there a reason other than looks good to use it
Automated assembly. There are machines out there that can bend leads and insert resistors into the PCB, so it's easier to have your jumpers be resistor-shaped so they'll fit the machine.Kniferide wrote: Thu Jun 08, 2023 2:57 pm curious about the Zero Resistor. is there a reason other than looks good to use it rather than a piece of wire? I've never really been sure why they exist.
That totally makes sense...although some of the "magic" is now gone as I originally thought of it as more of a Funk Logic kind of design almost like a prank or secret super-inside joke. I reckon in Dr Balls case it still is though? Love it. ok magic is backNate Dort wrote: Fri Jun 09, 2023 6:16 amAutomated assembly. For surface-mount designs, 0 ohm resistors are used very frequently, for the same reason.
I read of TGP the carbon comp zero-ohm resistors sound best. Is that true?Garth wrote: Fri Jun 09, 2023 8:27 amThat totally makes sense...although some of the "magic" is now gone as I originally thought of it as more of a Funk Logic kind of design almost like a prank or secret super-inside joke.
