Re-exploitation!?

I would think that the person doing that is depraved of any fair judgment.

On the other hand, a dude, after participating in those times, making it about "dudes vs a woman performer" is kinda stretching it a bit too much in fair taste.

While there's no need to be a pig about it, I don't think it should be off limits to say that AP is a narcissist and a bit of a grifter. I'm purposely avoiding her 'tribute' to Steve because it sounds infuriating.

Who's being a pig about it?

No one currently. But going back to old threads can be a mixed bag to put it mildly.

Chad... Can I call you Chad?

You probably know that in the midst of the height of the forumz TM there were a lot of people that were not there for the "right reasons". Making the AP thread about them and signifying it like it seems lazy to me. I mean, you have a right to your own opinion, but I can assure you that the majority of us were there for her exploitive ways and the willful innocent ignorance she displayed in doing so by playing a victim of misplaced judgment in her point of view.

Yeah I know. My posts were right there with them, though even I don't claim I didn't take it too far sometimes. The rage and dogpiling weren't necessary.

Really? I make one post mostly agreeing with you and you call me Basic? Go back to your fuckin' troll hole then. I can't say I missed posts about beans on your dick or whatever.

Hello Brian. Wave hand emoji.

So there we have it. I don't think we ever took it too far or meant anything personal with her, or her preferences of trimming her bush or not. We just didn't really appreciate how she treated her fellow human beings, or how she exploited her audience. If you feel like it's fair game and that that falls solely on the "used party" then we have a fundamental misunderstanding of how us people should treat each others with respect in non exploitative regard.

I didn't really feel like you were agreeing to anything, because we were never assholes to Amanda Palmer the person. We were always dicks to Amanda Palmer the proceedings. As far as my bean waving dick is concerned, there is always room for you there. Just hop right on.

We once stayed with a girl in Miami whose family were all undocumented immigrants from Honduras and they all took the couches so we can take their beds. I lay there wondering whether this is fair, as these people had so little. In the morning her mother said to me in broken English, “your music has helped my daughter so much. Thank you for staying here. We’re all so grateful. ·” Then I realised, this is fair.
Maybe I'm not understanding the above, and I have no opinion of AP.

I don't find anything wrong with this. Many good people want to be hospitable, no matter their own economic situation. Seems to me they were appreciative of what they got from her, and wanted to offer what they could to show it. Why would someone take that away from them just because someone had more someplace else? I think it would have been worse if they insisted on declining the offer. It would have been the equivalent of saying, "I have more than you." The family knew that.

Also, how does on do a search on the wayback thing?

My take is that as touring musicians with a flexible schedule, who are likely accustomed to sleeping on floors, the undocumented family with hard jobs and schools to get to probably need the beds more. It's not about saying "I have more". It's about empathy and not putting yourself before other people.

If I'm staying in your house and there's only one bed then I'm grateful for the roof and facilities and will take the couch or floor.
