It seems crazy to leave Ortiz on the bench, but I think it's best not to mess with the position players. The Rockies aren't hitting. If they score as few runs as they have in the first two games, then the Sox can afford to sacrifice some offense for the sake of keeping the defense intact.

That said, how can they not play Ortiz?

It's funny that only 4 of the many guys specifically tagged in the Sox article are still on the team, and Wakefield isn't even on the playoff roster.

I posted the article yesterday with pretty much that same caveat, and I don't think it detracts from my overall point.

But I agree it is worth noting just how many of those God-squadders the Red Sox have jettisoned. And it is definitely worth noting that the Sox apparently don't impose Christian "values" from the front office.

I guess I'm just trying to find a reason not to root for Yankees Lite.

I would find it highly unorthodox if Theo Epstein was trying to impose Christian values.

I don't disagree with you. Joaguin Andujar Jr, I mean Carlos Zambrano, points to the sky every inning he gets through. All that shit sours me on pro sports, yet I still love the game itself. My problem is the corporate philosophy of the Rockies and the owner's comments that Christians somehow have better character that chafes me.

Who fucking cares what ballplayers believe in? It's annoying to have to listen to, but it wouldn't affect the way I feel about teams I like.

If it's a team you dislike on the other hand, it can be very satisfying to see the religious guys lose. For example, when the Patriots beat God Boy Kurt Warner and the Rams.

Schilling's Jesus is way better than the Rockies Jesus right now.
