I hope FM Dave N. has a different answer but my food experience in Cancún was underwhelming. Largely catering to American tourists that aren't looking for authentic Mexican food. I'm sure you can find it there if you look close enough, though. I just didn't get a chance to do so with small children in tow.
It’s been very positive. Lots of fresh seafood, and the best molé I’ve ever had in my life today. I’m going to be mad at all of the molé back in TX after this trip.

My friend Laura has a daughter who has this twerpy 18 year old boyfriend named Mason. Cocky, Trumpy, douchey little guy. An alarming percentage of these spring break jackasses look EXACTLY like Mason. He’s clearly a type.
Damn. I'm gonna have to confront Laura. This won't stand. Also, do we have practice on Sunday?

I'm a big fan of Kumamoto. My girlfriend has family there, so we spent a few days there in 2023 and will be back again in a few weeks. Very sleep, yet beautiful. Kumamoto Castle is considered one of the "three premier castles in Japan" according to Wikipedia, but it's legitimately fantastic. They also have a small contemporary art museum that has 1 of the 4 James Turrell "Skyspaces" in Japan. There's also a specific kind of ramen for the area, which you can easily find at Keika Ramen in the train station. Highly recommended. Definitely a spot that you could have a fun/chill 2 days in.

Cool, and thanks. At very least, we'll be in transit in Kumamoto between a few nights in Unzen and a few more up in Aso. Gonna eat that ramen if there's time after the ferry, but before the bus. If there are a few hours, we can hit the castle and make a day of it.
