341Looks like Palmer still has this guy in production. No idea how it’d sound on bass.
Formerly FM kazoozak. Guy in Fake Canadian.
I use this and wrote about it here. Why do you need it to be passive? You should have an outlet to plug your amp into, the little power supply for the amp DI isn’t much trouble.tallchris wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 11:25 am Looking for something that I can put in between my amp and cab that has a DI output so sound people can stop harrassing me when I tell them my amp doesn't have a DI. I know there's this old Palmer PDI-09 Junction box but it's not in current production, but maybe there's something else that's passive that folks have experience with.

The American Fender tailpieces lock and stay in. I don't recall them being that expensive (definitely less than a Mastery).W.L.Weller wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 11:11 amIt's fine, except that the arm falls out at the slightest provocation. I realize that tolerances/collets that precise do cost money.cakes wrote:Did you like the last one?
The standard AVRI tailpiece works great out of the box and I think costs about $90 plus the cost of the arm (weirdly not included!).W.L.Weller wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 10:41 am Jazzmaster tailpiece & arm. I misplaced the arm from my Squier VM, and I'd apparently rather spend ~$100 on a new tailpiece than ~$10 on another arm (which would have the same looseness problem that caused the original one to fall out, get kicked under something/thrown in some bag and disappear.)
Buy once, cry once and get the $235 Mastery tailpiece, for $35 more than the whole guitar cost me?
Oh I'd just prefer it to be passive since it's for live use and it's one less thing to have to plug in, or end up forgetting the power supply, etc etc etc.llllllllllllllllllll wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:16 pm

Bass, from a 200 watt tube head. No need for cab sim at all, really just something to get the sound person off my back!cakes wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:17 pm Bass or guitar?
Do you want cabism?
EDIT: oh, that Radial looks nice and has everything. Hopefully the cabism is good. Sometimes they sound kinda dull. I didn't read up on it, but I wonder if it had a way to add your own IR file.
But, cabism for bass doesn't always seem worth it. Tell them to use their own damn DI or mic the cab like a professional!
Unfortunately not! Kinda tempted to see if Ben can just install a Jensen DI if he can do so without having to drill any new holes in the chassis.defendyachtrock wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:50 pm Does your amp have a preamp/line out? Maybe you could run it into one of these guys. Had my eye on one for an idea for a bass rig before I decided on something else. It is Active but it can run off phantom power.
The Pro Co DB1 passive DI has a speaker cable pass-through and is pretty cheap. I can't vouch for the fidelity of the transformers or whatever, but they're built tough and I've used it as a regular DI (line level input) for bass with no issues. It has a hi-cut switch but no other tone controls.tallchris wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 11:25 am Looking for something that I can put in between my amp and cab that has a DI output so sound people can stop harrassing me when I tell them my amp doesn't have a DI. Sweetwater, for example, has measurements for their cases online. So you could measure your guitar and compare to a bunch of options and see what will fit. It's an archtop and I don't really know how to go about finding out what case would fit it. I don't need anything super nice, just something to protect the thing around the house or driving to a friend's house. I've really come to love the old thing.
Looks just like this one.
I'm about 2 hours east of Raleigh NC, which I figure is the nearest place with a real guitar store, and even then, I don't expect a big box store to have a bunch of archtop cases to try out. Help me PRF, you're my only hope.
