Liz Cheney is stolen-liberal-valor incarnate. Her only merit was voting to impeach (commendable among that party of Christian nationalist fuckheads).

Especially in the U.S. where the center leans to the right. A centrist is only as good as whatever aspect of the establishment they're interacting with. I remember once hoping some centrists could be non-partisan pragmatists, I'm not sure if such a person is even possible in the federal government.
