Walk it off, big guy. Get yourself a t-shirt or something.

I donated blood 4 times in one year because they promised me a watch that said "we sucked this guy dry" or something and they NEVER sent it to me! Fuck the American Blood Association or whomever that was...

steve wrote:So you didn't get something for free? That's what all this is about? You bought stuff you wanted and there was some kind of bonus you didn't get and now you want teamwork to shame the dude into giving you your free thing?

and you've never been dissatisfied with a service or business and voiced an opinion? I find it hard to believe. My purchased item was supposed to be mailed to me months ago. I wrote several inquiries about it, all of them polite, and none of the messages were responded to. I'm sorry, but that's just bullshit. It's bad business and I refuse to be chastised for asking for what is mine. I have a receipt saying it's coming to me, dude. I'm not asking for anything I wasn't promised.

Had he written me at all and not ignored my inquiries, I wouldn't be pissed. Even a "sorry dude, but we're all out" would have been fine. That's not what happened. Boo.

steve wrote:Jesus. Find a fucking sponge and cry in it. Or if you want something that bad just buy it. Jesus.

ha ha. whatever.

It's not available on the site. It was a one off given to people who purchased X amount of merchandise from the Achewood store. I purchased X amount of merchandise to fulfill my end of the deal, and even went $16 bucks over to buy an Achewood gift for my lady. That means I paid for the shirt. I have gone out of my way to support the man and his wonderful comic strip and have asked others to support him as well countless times.

sorry you don't feel this way, but whatever! you are wrong!

cheers,

Faiz

However, permit me to ask you this:

-Would you have bought these items regardless of the prospect of a free t-shirt?

yes. I've bought tons of stuff without the prospect of free. Achewood is great, and I choose to support it.

-Are you enjoying the items you bought?

yes. All the time.

-Have you continued to read and to enjoy the strip and its offshoots since this situation arose?

yes, well, maybe not so much. i don't read it when I'm angry.

however, I'm not unhappy with Achewood the comic, I'm unhappy with Achewood the business.

steve wrote:And being a bitch worldwide about not getting a damn t-shirt is petty as all fuck.

to you. have you ever slagged a band or business in public when you thought they weren't behaving in an upstanding manner?

you don't have to answer this because I know you have. I've seen you do it. this is no different.

Walk it off, big guy. Get yourself a t-shirt or something.

wow steve, you must've had a worse day than me yesterday.

someone get this guy a hug.

Maybe they just ran out of this one off shirt- doesn't excuse their bad customer service.

exactly.
thank you.

steve,

it's lame enough that you're being hypocritical about calling bullshit on bullshit actions, but the self-righteousness and condescension when you're a) wrong and b) guilty of the same, is really unnecessary.

cheers, big guy.

I wish I could give this thread a lie detector test.

Steve got Kerble pretty butt hurt.

it's called the search function. If you use it right, you'll see that I'm not wrong.

Unfortunately, that's not your sole intent here. You want to marshal the gabbagoons in support of a shrill "I Am Fractionally Responsible For Your Popularity!" campaign, none of whom are parties to the dispute.

But wait, there’s more! You want them to join you in a boycott.

Chris Onstad wrote:If you enjoy Achewood on a regular basis, please consider making a contribution to our efforts. As independent artists, our only income is from readers like you.

This from the guy whose strip you have read for free for years now, and presumably provided you and yours a point of humorous reference innumerable times. Better hit him where it hurts!

kerble wrote:I have gone out of my way to support the man and his wonderful comic strip and have asked others to support him as well countless times.

You have enjoyed the strip, bought things related to the strip and got others into it, presumably all in good faith. Bravo. Now you want to call all that into account for a measly t-shirt? Don’t you find that unsavory?

kerble wrote:you are wrong!

No, he's not. Steve stole my thunder (and damn, The Dude Has Got No Mercy!), but I also thought that this was petty. Onstad should be chagrined for being dilatory (assuming he received your e-mails), but IMO you should be moreso for taking it to the streets.

Rather: Take it easy. Let it slide. Have a Drink Of Tomorrow and forget about the disappointments of yesterday.

...drunk and out of retirement

kerble is basically right, but there's a limit to how indignant you can get about the promise of a free t-shirt. It stops well short of organising an internet rabble against the greatest internet comic of all time, which is given away for free. I think it's only fair that you should expect an explanation, and that it should have arrived with your other merch. bad form onstad, but say your bit and move on.

however, this thread has convinced me I need to buy more achewood stuff. maybe all the books. yes ok all the books
