I listened to new day rising in the car.
official verdict: never listen to new day rising on headphones. it's a much worse album that way.
also, reconsidering my previous distaste for elvis costello. "this year's model" is a great album...surprisingly enough. even his sneer sounds good!

"This Year's Model" and "Armed Forces" are the two albums of his that are great. The others he did afterwards in the meantime always waver between being total crap to "just alright."
