Man oh man, it's really gratifying.
Congratulations!
Thanks! If anybody's interested, an older version of the trailer's
here, my stuff is the music that's not a crappy generic industrial song. I have informed the filmmakers that this industrial music thing is shit, but there it remains. It's not in the actual film, at least. This is pretty indicative of how my music is used in the film, tho.
I'm kinda weird about my solo stuff. I've never sold it, or even bothered to try. Most of my friends don't have any of it. It didn't even occur to me until I was putting together a CD for Rachael a couple weeks back (that she'd asked me for months ago, too...of course, now I'm all curious, have you guys had a chance to listen to it yet?) that I'd been doing this stuff for ten years, and had probably two albums' worth of stuff that I liked well enough to give to someone else.
I've been trying to nudge myself into making it more of a going concern lately. I've done a bit of recording since then, but I haven't yet added to the grand total of three (3) live performances I've given over the years. I keep telling myself I will, but then again, I keep telling myself I'll be a photographer again, too. That hasn't amounted to much yet.

Yesterday I was listening to Nina Nastasia's 'You Follow Me' while looking at the storm - there were 3 or four different layers of clouds on the sky, and lightings momentarly exposed different shapes each time (it was at night). So not crap. I'm not posting this in Nina Nastasia thread cause it is already flooded by me.

The stupid cunts downstairs (hair salon/asswaxers) are BUMPING house music. It's vibrating through the floor up my chair and into my rectum. WTF do they think they're in a club getting banged by some fratboy? I swear every color they add to their hairdos takes away brain cells.
SHUT UP DOWN THERE YOU STUPID CUNTS

Little Steven is a really, really super nice guy.
Details from my last few days:
Taking down the student exhibition here (the graduating students) and the school is closed for maintenance/cleaning. All the students were told to empty their lockers by the 17th of August.
They leave a lot of junk behind for us to clean up.
Over the past couple of days I have scored what I estimate to be about $1000 worth of color enlarging paper, including an almost full box of 30 X 40 Fujicolor Super C. I can print a lot of stuff on this if I make the correct exposure calculations early on, thus saving myself a lot of heartache. If the paper is really good (read: not shifted due to temperature or age, which it probably isn't) I can make prints for my own exhibition, which I had previously angsted about making larger than 12 X 12 due to prohibitive material costs.
The idea of printing my favorite photograph of the Thunderbolt at 30 X 30 is ridiculously appealing to me.
Perhaps my mother will finally get a piece of mine for her living room, like she's been bugging me for for at least 8 years.

I live in a part of Leeds crammed with students, and when they fuck off for the summer they leave a lot of crap in their front yards (and all over the bloody streets, and all). There are always plenty of working electrical goods to be found. Most ridiculous of all was two years ago when my friend found
a bag of money. Some students collection of small change, in a carrier bag, dumped in a skip. There was about fifteen quid there.
This year, the most absurd find was three full cans of lager. What kind of twat throws out three tins? If you don't want them, give them to someone, don't throw them in the bloody bin!

I am sure they found a warm and loving home in your belly!
Don't get me started on what I've scavenged from here.

I posted this on the "What instrument do you play?" thread, but can't stop thinking about it, so I am reposting it here:
I just bought these:
Perhaps I have lost my mind, but I think they're gorgeous. They have
prehistoric mosquitoes stuck in them as well.
I realize that vistas don't record that well, and I am prepared to drag
my old Radio Kings out of the closet for recording. The Radio Kings are gorgeous old drums from the 1950s and they sounds lovely, but they're not really appropriate for daily touring and stuff. I'd hate to lose a gorgeous old set like that to some drunk stage-diver kid falling on them.
Don't tell my band. I am going to surprise them at the big Devilneck Metalfest this weekend.

Aw, shucks... yer gonna make me blush.
Music Hates You likes to backlight the band with worklights (full disclosure: an idea we stole from
Torche). The white light shining through the amber drums and reflecting off of the bottom of the bronze cymbals is going to be SO KICKASS.
I have a friend who sold his vistas because they were getting "too trendy."
Oh, well. I just like 'em.
