One summer day when I was a little kid my Mother found my brother and me squashing spiders. She warned us in no uncertain terms not to kill the spiders - "When you kill a spider" she said, "you make it rain!"
This has always stuck with me - the horrible childish idea that I could kill summer by being cruel to a little animal.
In light of your post Simmo, I now know why it rains so much in this country... You're all fucking spider killers!!!
