She only released one song, but it's indelibly linked to Buffalo Bob. RIP.

I've been seeing this mentioned in free jazz circles in IG. I wasn't familiar with her before, but after learning more and hearing some stuff this is a tremendous loss.

A tremendous loss is right. A couple recent records that give an idea of what she was doing: FLY or DIE LIVE and Anterloper's Pink Dolphins.

Yo La Tengo had Fly or Die open one of their Hannukah shows last December with a thrilling set. The kind that made you curious about what directions branch was going to go to in the future. Anterloper had a European festival show scheduled for this weekend. Instead, we have the memorial at Union Pool.

Ah, I actually did know that one before hand, thanks to some Jeff Parker fanboy friends I have. Man...

Anteloper played in our town about a month ago. I didn't go because I wasn't digging the album.

I did see Branch play with Alabaster Deplume and a bunch of people at the Big Ears fest back in March. I went to that set on a whim, and it ended up being one of the best things I saw that weekend.

What a shocking loss - only 39?!?!?

I don't blame you. The dude was 91 and didn't exactly look like he was a health nut earlier in life.

But, yeah, RIP. His time as the leader of the USSR was certainly eventful... in many good ways.
