i have a few steve albini stories myself...
here is one of my favorites
steve and i have been together for 12 years, about 5 years into it i was working at reckless records-
a young woman came up to the counter and started to talk about what she "knew" to be a fact about about steve albini-
i can not remember why she felt obliged, but i do remember feeling very uncomfortable as i carefully placed price stickers on record jackets-
everyone else was enjoying the moment at my expense as she told story after story about how steve was a known child molester, hated women and what an overall asshole he was-
mind you, on my first day at reckless an employee (now a record store owner himself) asked me if it was true that steve had recorded the sounds of peter sotos raping women-
anyway, after some extended child molester story, someone else finally said "you know, that's his girlfriend"-
she stared at me and said "yeah, right, like you'd have a job"-
one more reason why steve should have taken points from that nirvana record-

people are mean and cruel.
however, I do suspect that Steve enjoys the phallic representation of the microphone.
and I also believe that Steve's hat explodes on contact, much like the '72 Pinto

I was in San Francisco once, and heard some old guy say "I don't know why everybody gets so excited about Steve Albini- I really don't think he's that good". So I followed him home, killed him and his wife and burned their house down. Then I tracked down his kids and killed them. The next day, I saw a flyer for this guy-

and realized the old dude must have been talking about him, not Chicago Steve Albini. Boy, did I get a chuckle out of that.

Now that I know Steve was a former vice president of the Bay Area Accordian Club, I feel I would have to thrown down with any trash talkers. Same as I do with naysayers of Emerson.

Emerson, eh?
In his favour:
- "became the first artist to ever use a modular Moog synthesizer live on stage."
- scored Dario Argento's "Inferno", "Murderock", and "The Church"; scored a Japanese full length animated film called "Harmagedon."
-
To every mother's great shame:
- Emerson "has consistently won the Overall Best Keyboardist award in the annual Keyboard Magazine readers' poll since the magazine debuted in 1975, and holds a seat of honor on their advisory board."
- Emerson's arrangement of Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" has achieved "notoriety as a heroic theme for many sports broadcasts."
-
. . . Damn you fast-fingered Dragon!
