I suggest you do this, even if it is one sided maybe just maybe he will listen and just stop already...

I think I will. I think slagging off your peers is lame, but talking trash on really famous people is awesome. I don't know why, but I think it's hilarious. It's the Andy Kaufman in me.

Our guitarist is already one step ahead of me. He owns a Bright Eyes t-shirt that he "acquired" from a 19-year-old ex-girlfriend. He then wrote "ARE GAY" underneath the band's name in black permanent marker. He wears this t-shirt at almost every show we play, and has probably been photographed in it several times. If Conor Oberst ever saw it, I'm sure he'd cry. Then I'd laugh and kick his dog.

No, I wouldn't. Kick his dog, that is. I'd steal it and give it to someone who isn't a complete bedwetting pussy.

"Conor pees his bed, DUH-NUH!
Conor pees his bed, DAAAH-NUUUH!"

I believe when I saw you he was wearing that shirt...

I once wrote a song called "Conor Oberst Wants To Die For Your Sins." I had dreams of a Tupac/Biggie style song feud, but then I realized more than five people would have to hear it for that to work.

Not only that, he'll tell you who in his own band sucks. I remember reading an interview during Pavement's last tour, wherein Malkmus essentially said that it was good the band was breaking up, because no one else in the band was on his level musically, except occasionally the bass player.
I wouldn't say he was wrong, but you don't often see people saying that kind of stuff publicly while their bands are still together.

When was this? We haven't been to Milwaukee since 2003, although we are coming back in June.

The first night was much better, so honestly you didn't miss much. Hilliard were way better the second night, however.

I think I've mentioned this on here somewhere else but apparently there's a recording of one of their practices for the last tour where Spiral is complaining about how they never play songs he writes. Malkmus supposedly heard this and got in his face and started yelling "I am Pavement".

I missed them the 2nd night, they crashed at my house and set up a show for the hi-fi in Philly however our vans fuel pump exploded about 50 miles outside of philly and we never got to play that show... Hillard are good people
