actually, probably the creator from the 'symphonic stab' was one of the sound creators for the Fairlight synthesizer. that dreadful sound is in that synth.
I completely understand people being allergic to orchestra/symph synth stabs, as it was severely abused in the 80s, but I still enjoy a lot of classic uses of it like on Bambataa's "Planet Rock", Art Of Noise, or, say, New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle". There's no science to how to use it well. It either works on the rare occasion, or it completely ruins the song in question.
Then again, I grew up on all that Arthur Baker/proto-freestyle/breakdance music in the early 80s, so I can't not love the roots of it.
