This thread sounds familiar, but whatever. I have had very good luck w/ the dod YJMallstein overdrive. I got it as part of a trade, and didn't really plan on using it, but it sounds nice. good clarity, decent low end. I think they're really cheap online.
So, Humphrey Bear, what's this deal about you and pedals? I fail to see your point, even a little bit. few of us, working musicians or hobbists, can afford the amp/guitar combo that is ideal for the sound we wish to produce, especially given venue variables (size, acoustics, etc.). I hesitate to say anything, because you're gonna feel the need to answer back and waste more time and keystrokes.

yeah, its the reissue. it sounds like an nes system being raped by a two octave fuzz monster.

I like the Menatone pedals. The Howie is an odd one. Though it's billed as a "Dumble in a box' I like it for it's odd-ball low end response(at least mine) Way Stoner. The DOD Punkifer is also worth mentioning. Budget Stooges.

so this post is kinda old, but there's a new pedal out there that's got me excited so i gotta mention it. The EH English Muff'n is the coolest dumb name distortion I've seen in a long time. EH (Electro-Harmonix) is putting out tons of new stuff and a lot of it is really cool. Of course, when you're pumping them out at the rate they are, there's bound to be some rat feces in there, but mostly, they're doing a hell of a job. the Muff'n is one of their new pedals with a pair of 12ay7 preamp tubes in it, and as you might expect, this ups the price tag a bit. Lists around $300, but you should be able to buy one for $200 or less. I could go on, I really like this pedal, but anyone interested should just go check them out, there are EH dealers everywhere.

turbo rat -> mxr blue box -> reissue fender blender -> schaller fuzz -> big muff
though they are rarely on at the same time, the combinatio of the rat muff and blender is devistating. un huh huh huh.

Hey, I have one of these as well, and recently got the analogman 808/silver mod with symmetrical clipping on it. Totally breathed new life into this pedal - I absolutely love the sound.
I have also used a danelectro Fab Tone, and EH Big Muff USA, but never been totally thrilled with either.
