I was wondering if the ATM-450 would be a suitable replacement in the tom-tom position because I'd like to free up my only multi-pattern LDCs for other uses. The 450s are a wonderfull size and get great reviews as overheads but I'm wondering if they can take the SPL of a really hard hitter or with them really close to the toms... I like to avoid cymbal bleed as per usual.the price is nice too @ about $300 a pair. The Oktavas seem like a more flexible option especially now with the swivels and all the capsule options but that puts my WAY above budget.Hey Milford, I haven't use these, but I see that electrical has one.I think Steve used the one they have in the last Bellini sessions, here's a picture of the Alexis from Bellini playing a bass drum with those things I have no idea what you'd call:So I guess they're good enough for low end drums?Me and Doug, who used to post here as otisroom, talked about these mics a while back. He has a few that he's using for micing toms. He said they're suitable replacement for the E22s, IIRC. Again, I have no personal experience with them, just wanted to throw some more info that you might have not ran into.
